Mechanical Engineering
Virtually every product or service in present life has probably been touched in one or other way by a mechanical engineer to help the society. This includes solving today's problems and creating future solutions in Agriculture, Manufacturing, Transportation, Health Care, Space Exploration etc. Mechanical engineers may design a component, a machine, a system, or a process. Anything that needs to be manufactured with moving parts needs the expertise of a mechanical engineer. Mechanical engineers contribute to economic growth of the nation through Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Productivity improvement of scarce resources.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 1968 as supporting department for other engineering branches of the Faculty of Technology. The department initiated B.Tech. program in 2010 to meet the demand of industry ready mechanical engineers. The department also offers M. Tech. with specialization in CAD-CAM and Ph. D. program.
