Computers continue to have a significant impact on the way we look at the world; and people well-versed in them, remain in great demand. To fulfil that requirement, the Department of Computer Engineering was established in the year 1985 with a Bachelor's Degree Course in Computer Engineering.

The department has "Param
Shavak" super computer facility which is provided by GUJCOST and CDAC to carry out research in the area
of high performance computing.
PARAM Shavak provides computational resource with advanced technologies to perform high-end computations to address and catalyze the research using modelling, simulation and data analysis.
The system consists of 2 multicore CPUs each with minimum 12 cores along with two accelerator cards. The system is available as a server in table top mode.
It is also equipped with HP Proliant ML G6 servers, DELL PowerEdge servers and IBM servers which runs on Linux-based server operating systems with other open source softwares.
These servers are connected to the internet & intranet through manageable switches (100/1000 Mbps) of Ethernet & fibre optic cables.
The Department had managed the internet connectivity, intranet connectivity and firewall of the university from January 1997 to December 2015.
With a fast-evolving area and curricula, the faculty members at the computer department has the twin responsibility of adapting fast to the new concepts as well as guiding the students. The esteemed faculty members include
