Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics is the branch of dentistry which deals with treatment of carious, malformed or fractured teeth as well as discoloured or aesthetic correction and endodontics deals with treatment of pulpal and periapical diseases and Dental Pain Management.

The Department imparts training in the restoration, rehabilitation and maintenance up to the level of dentition. It is headed by Prof. Dr. Dipti Choksi, an academician. The Department offers all latest conservative treatments and advanced microscopic endodontics.

The Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics was established in the year 2005, to impart teaching & training of undergraduate students to a level skilled in the restoration, rehabilitation and maintenance of the dentition. As well as to promote a conducive learning environment through appropriate teaching methodologies and assessment tools.

Since its initiation, it has been engaged in patient care, teaching and research. During academic year 2011 and 2021, Post Graduation and PhD course started respectively in the department. The postgraduate course involves case discussions, weekly journal club meetings, Departmental & Inter-Departmental Seminars, Clinico-Patho Conferences, Under Graduate lectures and an independent research study which would lead to the submission of a dissertation to the university.

CLINICAL SERVICES

The Department offers high quality preventive and treatment care in a convenient setting. Patients are treated using contemporary and advanced techniques under strict infection control guidelines.

Amalgam Restorations

Most people recognise dental amalgams as silver fillings. In our Department, we provide different amalgam restoration i.e. Pin retained complex amalgam, bonded amalgam for different clinical situation.

Microscopic Endodontics

Dental microscope helps in detecting early decay, chips and fractures with greater accuracy. It delivers high success rate of root canal treatment due to increased visibility and access.

Surgical Endodontics

Many a times nonsurgical root canal procedure alone cannot save the tooth. So the endodontic surgery is performed in such situations.

Aesthetic & Cosmetic Dentistry

This includes treatment modalities like bleaching (home or in-office and vital & non-vital), Veneering, and tooth shaping by composite restoration.

Vital & Non Vital Bleaching

Bleaching is the procedure to restore natural smile. With the use of light accelerated bleaching procedure, we are able to regain the natural smile of the person.

GIC Restorations

A Glass Ionomer Cement (GIC) is a dental restorative material used in dentistry for filling teeth and luting cements. It is useful in the restoration of carious lesions and non-Carious Lesions in low-stress areas.

Inlays & Onlays

Inlay and Onlays are indirect restorations consisting of a solid substance, such metal, resin or porcelain. While inlays are fabricated outside the mouth and fitted to a cavity in a tooth, onlays extend to replace a cusp.

Vital Pulp Therapy

Vital Pulp Therapy involves removal of local irritant and placement of protective material directly or indirectly over the pulp. Common objective is to induce a physical protective barrier over pulp to maintain its vitality and function.

Root Canal Treatment &
Endodontic Retreatment

Endodontic treatment is necessary when the pulp becomes inflamed or infected. Sometimes, a tooth that has been treated doesn't heal properly and can become painful or diseased months or even years after root canal treatment. If tooth failed to heal or develops new problems, there is a second chance of retreatment.

Composite Restorations

By utilising the most modern materials we are able to restore the carious tooth with less destruction and with tooth coloured composite restoration.

Post & Core

A post and core is a dental restoration used to sufficiently build-up tooth structure for future restoration with a crown when there is not enough tooth structure to properly retain the crown.

Endo-Perio Procedures & Other
Interdisciplinary Procedures

Procedures like Intentional root canal therapy, restorations, Enameloplasty, cosmetic reshaping and recontouring, surgical root end preparation and root end filling is performed.

Veneers & Laminates

Veneers are considered one of the most conservative cosmetic treatments available. They are a thin shell of porcelain or resin that is bonded to the surface of the teeth. This can change their shape, shade, and position to improve the cosmetics of your teeth and smile. They are also used to replace and restore any lost tooth structure where indicated.
