Prof. (Dr.) Punit R Bhatt - M. Pharm, Ph. D.
He is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at
the Faculty of Pharmacy since March 2021. He has more than 9 years of
teaching and research experience out of 6 years of pure research experience
as a Research Associate at Junagadh Veterinary College in the Govt. of
Gujarat-sponsored research scheme.
He earned his post-graduate and Ph.D. degrees from the Dept. of Pharmaceutical
Sciences, Saurashtra University, Rajkot. He has been honored with a research
grant of Rs. 20,000 from the Gujarat Council of Science and Technology, Govt. of
Gujarat, for his M. Pharm. dissertation work.
He has also mentored an SSIP project of Rs. 28,000 at Dharmsinh Desai University
for the year 2022 and holds another 2 SSIP project mentorship for the year 2023
of Rs. 70,000. He is also the recipient of a Minor Research Project of Rs.
88,000 from Dharmsinh Desai University. He has published more than 22 research
papers in various national and international journals and presented 14 papers at
various national and international conferences and seminars.
He was awarded the 1st rank in the poster presentation at the GSBTM-sponsored
National Conference organized by Indukaka Ipcowala College of Pharmacy, VV Nagar
in 2023 for his work on molecular methods for the identification of medicinal
plants. He was also awarded 2nd rank in the National Convention of the Society
of Pharmacognosy at Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad, in 2022 for his
work on the ‘survey on the use of traditional medicine during the COVID-19
infection’. He was also awarded the ‘best paper award for the scientific
session’ at the National Conference on Aushadhi Anushandhan-2023 organized by J.
S. Ayurved Mahavidyalay, Nadiad for his research on LC-MS/MS analysis of an
edible herb. He was a co-author of the ‘best poster award’ for the research on
zebrafish at the Indian Society of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology annual
conference.
He was invited to be a speaker in the refresher courses for pharmacists at the
Dr. Subhash Technical Campus, Junagadh. He also delivered training at the
national training program funded by the World Bank and the Indian Council of
Agricultural Research, New Delhi, on "Automation and Advance in Chromatography."
He guided B. Pharm. students and M. Pharm. students in project work. He is a
recognized Ph. D. guide at Dharmsinh Desai University for the subject of
Pharmacology and Phytopharmacology.
He has expertise in working with various experimental animals, including rats,
mice, rabbits, poultry, and zebrafish. He has experience handling various
scientific instruments like preparative HPLC, HP-TLC, microplate reader,
solid-phase extraction, etc. His areas of expertise are oxidative stress,
ethnopharmacology, toxicology, and phytopharmacology. He is a recipient of the
prestigious Gujarat Association for Agricultural Science (GAAS) award as a
co-worker for the research work.
